                  Rosa Young

Rosa Ae Young (born in 1957 in S. Korea) is a British visual artist, educator, curator, and professional musician, who makes paintings, sculptures, digital images, and music performances. She graduated MA and BA Hons degree in Fine Art Drawing and Painting at the University of Arts London.

In terms of her creativity, she was inspired by classical music, and her quest is to develop ways of integrating different musical parameters into a visual format. Each way of working is not just an end in itself but becomes a complex layering of individual characteristics – these layers are then synchronized again producing different modulations, rhythms, and notations.

The works become a fusion of light, shadow, movement and music, i.e. ‘Drawing in Space’. She is used to making decisions and concentrating on certain centres of orientation.

She exploits the intuitive while working within a rigid system (the musical interpretation) bringing and presenting a new freedom.
Her ideas are complex in terms of their sequence and superimposition

"My artworks are strongly influenced by the theory of abstraction, expressionism, and minimalism. It is my inner feelings and emotional self-expression to be free and express feelings of music and compositional structures that use musical notations and instruments. I sometimes like to use mixed media for experimenting and exploring to harmonize with the possibility of expression and expression way.

Each of these methods is not just an end in itself but becomes a complex layering of individual characteristics layered then synchronized again producing different modulations, rhythms, and notations. I exploit the intuitive while working within a rigid system (the musical interpretation) bringing and presenting a new freedom.

My ideas are complex in terms of their sequence and superimposition to develop ways of integrating the musical parameters into a visual format, exploring the collaboration and constructed nature of emotional sense."
